Traveling to DTLA anytime soon? After an amazing 2 day getaway here is everywhere you should go on your visit to stay, play, eat and drink. All of the locations listed below are within an easy walk of one another so there’s no fear of that famous LA traffic.
Stay-JW Marriott LA Live: As a Hyatt and Hilton aficionado, switching to my Bonvoy app felt dramatic but was absolutely the right choice. From a suite upgrade at check-in, amazing walkable locations and thoughtful resort-fee inclusions such as museum tickets and drink credits this hotel is a standout for luxury feel without any pretentious attitudes. It’s new, nice and definitely worth the price!
Play-
New for 2024 and paying tribute to the legend himself is the Kobe Bryant statue in front of the Crypto.com (formerly Staples Center) arena. Be prepared to wait in a short line but be impressed at the realness of this statue and the respect fans have when stopping by.
Nearby the statue and not t0 be missed is the highly immersive and fun Grammy Museum currently featuring a special exhibit on Shakira and permanent showcases of past awards, outfits, and red-carpet memorabilia.
Eat-
There is no shortage of great places to dine in downtown but a few standouts for me were breakfast at Cafe Fig at their beautiful historic bar with handmade everything.
Drink-
The tallest rooftop bar in America, and stunning lobby bar sits over 70 stories high at the Intercontinental LA and despite the high floor, the prices are more reasonable than you may expect. I recommend this for sunset and at night to see the twinkling lights of the city down below.
Not the tallest rooftop in LA, but another fun and historic spot can be found climbing the outdoor stairs is Cara Cara at the Proper Hotel LA where the views, and cocktails are top notch.
